Ep120: One big lesson learned from META shutting down podcasts.

career planning

Facebook shuts down podcasts.

Meta or Facebook first introduced podcasts onto the platform back in July 2021, and as expected thousands of creators flocked to it. And, now it's going away.

So, what can you learn from this business u-turn, even though you're working a 9-5 job?

Do not put all your eggs into ONE basket.

You might love your company right now.

You might enjoy your daily job right now.

You might make a lot of money right now.

One of the best things I ever did in my career was to learn how to create and attract career opportunities, via strategic networking at the workplace as well as online via LinkedIn.

Nowadays, I teach the methods in my 3-step program, The Corporate Survivor.

I worked with a client who felt stuck after working in the exact same role, with the exact same company for 9 years. Unfortunately, because of the pandemic, she had not received any increments or promotions for the past few years.

This is now causing her low confidence and imposter syndrome.

You'll want to reflect on your contributions and value at the workplace every quarter, if not, every single year as an absolute minimum.

Don't become too reliant.

Once you're conditioned to stay inside of your comfort zone, it will become increasingly difficult over time to explore new opportunities. This will create a vicious cycle of negative emotions and the fastest way to job dissatisfaction.

Be open to improving one skill per quarter.

In an ever-changing working world, there's always room to boost the future-ready skills that will allow you to transition to any role, team, company or industry.

Your career future is in your hands!
