~ Career Confessions, Day 124 ~

I quit my job because of THIS.

Hey Anna!

Here's why I quit my high-flying and high-paying corporate job in the corporate world and became an accidental career coach.

As it's Mother's Day this weekend, I wanted to share it with you.

This is my story - the TLDR version.

In 2019...

I was the Head of Department and Senior Director at one of the biggest companies in the world.

But it was the 10 words I received via WhatsApp that made me leave the corporate world behind.

Growing up, I was very close with my mum.

She was there for me:

- When I graduated from high school and didn’t know what to do

- Whenever I was unsure about my career choices.

She has been there for me, for my ups, and more importantly, for my downs.

The thing was...

A big secret I kept for a long time is that my mum has been battling cancer for over a decade. It was on and off.

Even though I was working overseas, I made sure to travel back home every single month.

Relapse.

At that time, I immediately knew I had to return home permanently.

I should quit, leave my job and make the right decision for my family.

I quit once in 2016, and this would have been my 2nd time.

I had a feeling that If I missed this time...

It was not something I can rewind or money can buy back.

And unfortunately, in 2020, she passed away.

But the 365 days I spent with my mum...

Taking care of her and doing things with her are truly the most important memories I have.

💛

Here’s an important life lesson:

Remember why you’re working so hard for.

I’m thankful because this was something I never forgot on my career journey.

And, while I'm doing something different as a career coach nowadays...

I'd like to think it's working out :)

And...

Thank you for reading my story.

And, thank you for being part of my journey whether you're a:

~ career course student

~ private coaching client

~ weekly podcast listener

~ happy newsletter subscriber

I appreciate you!
