Hey Anna!
A month ago, I had an agency reach out to me for a collab. Let's call them "A".
This is a story about what went wrong.
"A" reached out with enthusiasm and wanted to set up a call.
"A" said: Mei Phing, choose whatever time you want!
The first strike.
Apparently, "A" had a specific time slot in mind.
Then, why the suggestion?
The second strike.
"A" rescheduled twice within 24 hours of the call.
Poor organisation, maybe?
The third strike.
We went on the call and "A" wanted me to agree to the partnership asap.
Right after the call, "A" sent chaser emails every 2 days.
Hmm... Something seems off.
Finally:
I decided not to proceed due to the lack of clarity and a pushy attitude.
"A" ghosted.
Now, here's the lesson:
Build a relationship, not treat things like a transaction.
Communicate clearly, not being a pushy person.
It's unpleasant. It's icky.
Don't be this person at your workplace.
So Anna, do you practice these bad habits at work? :)
With love,
Mei Phing xx
